Art As Catharsis is proud to announce the release of Hubris.’s upcoming record, Metempsychosis – an exploration of Greek mythos and mortality through the medium of technical post-rock.
With influences spanning from This Will Destroy You to Esbjorn Svensson Trio, Hubris. oft find themselves compared to the likes of Sigur Ros or Long Distance Calling. The writing process of Metempsychosis only emphasises their ability to tactfully draw inspiration from wide schools of thought and experience, using both Greek mythology and their native Swiss landscapes as prime drivers for the album’s conception.
“Music to us is the greatest tool to translate and express our feelings and mindset,” begins drummer Nathan Gros. “Thus, composing this album was a delicate and profound experience for both of us. But for the sake of paying tribute to all the incredible musicians and bands out there, we would also like to add Nils Frahm, Anderson Paak, Esbjörn Svensson Trio, Gojira - unfortunately we have to stop there for brevity, even though there are many more - to the list.”
Coming off the back of a band restructure, Metempsychosis marks the dawn of a new era for Hubris. - one that not only brings a new and exciting approach to both composition and live performances, but will likely follow the trend of critical appraisal that their last record, Apocryphal Gravity, drew from reviewers and fans alike.
With new material already in the works and a busy touring schedule over the next 12 months, opportunities to see their sweeping post-rock in action will soon grace Europe and India after a tour that left Australian heads spinning.

Metempsychosis explores the cycle of life and death, but most importantly, as its name suggests, reincarnation and rebirth. All the songs tell a story of the intricacies surrounding pivotal moments in the lives of characters from Greek Mythology – i.e. the main source of
inspiration for our music.
For example, the song Heracles tells the story of the Greek Hero Heracles, also known as Hercules. He was not only given the chance to be born in the first place when Zeus intervened at the trial of Heracles’ mother who had been sentenced to burn at the stake, but was the only mortal who was granted access to Mount Olympus after his death. The
song’s repeating patterns echo Heracles’ own life, as he was constantly tried, most famously by Zeus’ resentful wife Hera. The song is divided into twelve parts alluding to both Heracles’ labours and the different stages of his life, the last two being musical illustrations of his rise to Mount Olympus and his place among the gods until the end of times.
Metempsychosis invites you on a musical journey through the tales of Hepius, Dionysus, Icarus and his father Dedalus, Adonis and Heracles and to refect on how their stories may mirror your own.
We would like to thank our friends, families and anyone that has helped us in any way throughout the making of this album. We do this frst and foremost because music is what keeps us going. It has been our drive since day one and each album is met with new encounters, new difculties and new highs and lows; but above all, each new album brings moments that we will cherish forever. We would like to direct our profound appreciation and deepest love to the unequaled dedication and musical talent of Matthieu Grillet and Lucien Leclerc, who have become an integral part of this project, Ronnie from Wherepostrockdwells for his immeasurable support and assistance, and Jérémie Hohl for, once again, the incredible album artwork.
Last but certainly not least, we extend a huge thank you to all of you guys out there supporting us and enabling us to live our dream one
day at a time. This project could not have been realized without the ongoing support from everyone listed above and we are and will be forever grateful.

I really can‘t decide, which of the tracks I like the most. Images? Darkest Moment? Or Gradient Space?
Marcin, you offer a lot of hard, but very sweet decisions to me - thank you very much for your inspiring work and for letting us listen to your very special piece of art! Horst Feldmann
